Part 2 of this tutorial helps you understand the Joomla 1.5 Menu System and how you can create a Menu linked to a Section, Category and Article.
How to Create a Section
First we login to the back end of our website and are welcomed by the website administration page. Remember that the username is – admin and then what ever your password is.
When you get in the administration page, at the top left hand side of the page we go to Content -->Section Manager
When we are in the Section Manager page Click the New button on the top right hand side of the page.
This will take us to a new Section Editor page
In title type the name of the section you want to create. In my case I already have put
Title: Filmmaking
Alias: filmmaking (Alias is what will appear in the address bar when you go to that page. It will only appear if you have your Joomla Global settings configured for SEO) 
That’s all we need to do now click the
Save button on the top right side of the Section Editor page.
There a few things to note about the Save, Apply and Close buttons
 | Save will save all the changes you have made and will close the editor page |
 | Apply will save all the changes you have made and you will remain in the in the page editor |
 | Close will not save any changes and will close the editor page |
